40 000 voitures brûlées par an : la France, championne mondiale des émeutes en feu !

Chaque année, plus de 40 000 voitures sont réduites en cendres en France, un record mondial qui fait du pays le plus exposé aux risques d’émeutes, selon Thierry Léger, patron de SCOR. Ce fléau, amplifié par la polarisation sociale, s’intensifie lors de pics bien connus : Nouvel An, 14 juillet, et émeutes urbaines. Les assureurs tirent la sonnette d’alarme, certaines communes devenant inassurables. Derrière les flammes, une France fracturée où la violence devient routine.

Les nuits où la France s’embrase

Le phénomène des voitures brûlées explose à des moments précis. La Saint-Sylvestre est un “classique” : en 2024-2025, 984 véhicules calcinés, contre 690 en 2022-2023. Le 14 juillet n’est pas en reste, avec environ 500 voitures incendiées en 2009. Les émeutes urbaines, comme celles de 2005 (45 588 véhicules brûlés) ou post-Nahel en 2023, marquent des pics dramatiques.

Un cocktail explosif

Pourquoi tant de brasiers ? La polarisation sociale, le chômage (jusqu’à 25 % dans certaines banlieues), et la défiance envers les institutions alimentent le feu. Les réseaux sociaux, amplifiant les tensions, transforment une étincelle en incendie. Les assureurs, eux, suffoquent : les indemnisations s’envolent, et des centaines de communes peinent à trouver une couverture.
